Cancer is the Crab, the faintest constellation on the Sun’s path, with no star brighter than Tarf at fourth magnitude. What it does have is the Beehive, a cluster of a thousand stars visible to the naked eye as a smudge. The Sun is in Cancer for three weeks from late July. The Tropic of Cancer is named for the June solstice that once fell here; it now falls in Taurus, two constellations back.
