Leo is the Lion, one of the few constellations that looks like its name, with the Sickle for a head and mane and Regulus at its heart. Regulus lies almost exactly on the ecliptic, and around 23 August each year the Sun passes within half a degree of it. The Sun is in Leo from mid-August to mid-September, by which time the horoscope’s Leo is mostly over.
