Virgo is the Maiden, holding an ear of wheat marked by Spica, the brightest star in the constellation. It is the largest constellation on the Sun’s path and the second largest in the sky, which is why the Sun spends longer here than anywhere else: about six and a half weeks from mid-September. The September equinox now happens inside Virgo. The horoscope’s Virgo is nearly over before the Sun arrives, having been placed by an equinox that has since moved on.
